How Smart Alarms Work
2 min read
DreamTrak's smart alarm is designed to wake you at the optimal moment for dream recall and gentle awakening, rather than jolting you out of deep sleep.
The smart alarm works by monitoring your sleep patterns using your device's sensors. You set a target wake-up time and a wake window (for example, 15 or 30 minutes before your target). The alarm will trigger at the best moment within that window, choosing a point when you are in lighter sleep and more likely to remember your dreams.
To set up the smart alarm, go to your Profile tab and tap "Smart Alarm." Enable the alarm, set your desired wake-up time, and choose your preferred wake window. Select an alarm sound from the available options -- we recommend the gentler tones for a more peaceful transition to wakefulness.
For best results, place your phone on your mattress near your pillow (not under it). The sensors work best when they can detect subtle movement. Keep the app running in the background overnight -- it uses minimal battery in sleep monitoring mode.
When the alarm wakes you, DreamTrak automatically opens to the Good Morning practice, making it easy to capture dream memories while they are fresh. This seamless transition from alarm to practice is one of the most effective ways to build strong dream recall.
The smart alarm works entirely on your device and functions fully offline. No internet connection is needed.
